We took our first camping trip of the year already (April 19-24). I am just late writing about it. We went to Sturbridge, MA and stayed at Jellystone park. Our good friends from our neighborhood came with us too.
We had gone to an rv show a few months back and got lots of brochures for campgrounds nearby. This specific park caught our attention because they offered a free weekend of camping if you cleaned your campsite...rake leaves and bag them. We decided we would pay for Tuesday-Thursday and make it a 5 day trip.
It was decently priced at $40 for any site off season. We didn't realize that we had been charged $4 extra per child per night though until we got there.
The trip ended up not being the best. The spots that they put us in were sooo muddy, it was awful. We dealt with it for as long as we could..our campers were so dirty inside after a few hours. We decided to go to the office and ask for new sites. We ended up moving to a few sites that were much drier, but they ended up being no better because about 50 people came and piled into tents all over the 2 sites next to us. They woke us up Easter morning blaring music, we were not happy campers :)
Easter was fun in the camper though. We died Easter eggs Saturday evening. Then Easter morning the kids woke up and found their baskets and looked for hidden Easter eggs around the camper. They really enjoyed it. It ended up raining all day so we went and played bingo and the kids LOVED it.
Overall, the campground was not in good shape at all. We would never go back, but we did have a great time just because we were with good friends and we love camping! Stay tuned for the next trip. I wanted to go in June, but it has been so busy with the end of the school year coming up and dr appts and activities. I am planning one for July though!
